I was by myself, and didn’t have my book or computer with me to stay and eat. When I went in, I figured I would just get a bagel or two to go and try their coffee. I think that has been closed for a while – and I was SO pleased when I arrived and saw the beautiful shop that went into this space! It is really lovely and airy – it would definitely be a place that I would go to with a friend and eat breakfast or lunch. The shop is on the corner of Doyle Ave and Camp Street in Providence, in a former convenience store called “Your Corner Store”. Once I arrived I realized quickly that I would not be disappointed in my Saturday morning adventure! Rebelle Artisan Bagels I am much more of a savory breakfast person. A couple of months ago, I stood in line with my mom to try PVDonuts – and after standing in the freezing cold for over thirty minutes, I had had enough. I woke up 45 minutes before my alarm went off (I set it for 9am just in case – I have been known to sleep in on Saturdays) and I got dressed and went right out to see what I would find at 110 Doyle Ave.Īs I was driving over, I wondered if people would be standing in a line outside of the building. I was back in the Providence area and I was more than excited to check out the newest bagel place in Providence – Rebelle Artisan Bagels. A joy to use.It is a rare occasion that I will set my alarm clock late on a Friday night – but this Saturday morning I had something to get up for. Some of the effects are truly mind boggling from a programming perspective. It's still not exactly like applying physical pigments, but this is the closest experience we've seen. With Rebelle however, the painting effects are so believable and naturalistic that it does truly feel as if you are interacting directly with the canvas' surface.Īlmost everything has been thought of, allowing you to tailor your canvas, brushes and paints to create exactly what effect you need. With any painting or drawing software there will be a slight disconnect between the user and their work, since they are creating brush strokes through a processor - "by wire" as it were. The programmers clearly know what both professional users of technology and artists want and need, and they have successfully integrated these elements. Overall Rebelle is a very well thought-through piece of software, which is clearly built by experienced artists. The experience is very like using 'real' oil paints on a physical surface. Sunset valley - using Rebelle's oil brushes it was possible to produce life-like colours and blending. These create depth to the image and it really does feel like looking at ridges and troughs in the pigment surface. Handily there are brushes for producing both thin and thick paint application, allowing the user to introduce impasto effects. One of the biggest updates with Rebelle 4 was the introduction of oils and realistic oil brush effects. Once again Rebelle delivers and generally the brushes accurately represent the range of strokes one can achieve with physical materials. The latter is exceptionally fun but also has real functional applications. It also opens up a tremendous array of creative possibilities, taken even further by the Blow Tool. This is easy to control and produces life-like effects. You can select from options including Transparent, Opaque and Semi-opaque, which adds to the realistic impression of how light impacts the appearance of overlapping areas.Ī stand out feature is the "DropEngine" which simulates wet paint running across a tipped surface. To further push the versatility of the watercolor tools Rebelle allows the user to choose how paints mix. The 'wet' effect is highly convincing, as is the way a drop of wet paint bleeds across the surface and begins to be absorbed.
